medac Gesellschaft für klinische Spezialpräparate mbH (referred to below as medac GmbH) takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We record, use and store your personal data only in compliance with the provisions of the German Data Protection Act (BDSG), Telemedia Act (TMG) and all other applicable provisions of data protection legislation.
The Data Protection Declaration below provides you with information about the nature, extent and purpose of data recording and use by medac GmbH.
Subject of the data protection
The subject of the data protection is your personal data. According to the definition in § 3, para. 1, BDSG, these are individual items of data regarding the personal or factual circumstances of a specified or identifiable natural person. These include, for example, data, such as name, address, e-mail address or telephone number, as well as data relating to internet use, such as your IP address, if appropriate.
General data protection notice
If you visit the internet pages of medac GmbH, the server on which our web pages are located automatically stores and processes information about you in what are known as web server logs.
The following information will be stored about you: your IP address, which page you visited and for how long, your country of origin, the search terms you used on our home page, your browser type and which provider you use.
These data are not used for commercial purposes. We only analyse your data for statistical purposes and to improve our internet offering. An exception exists for data that you provide yourself voluntarily, particularly in connection with online applications (cf. below in this context). In all events, your data are used exclusively by medac GmbH. Your data is not passed on to third parties.
We also use “cookies” to collect and store data. Cookies are small packages of data that are stored in the web browser of your terminal. We use two different types of cookies: session cookies and permanent/log-in cookies. Session cookies are temporary cookies that are deleted automatically when you close your browser. Permanent/log-in cookies on the other hand are not automatically deleted once you leave the site. This type of cookie allows you to be recognised when you next call up our website to save you having to log in again. The cookies allow us to trace your user behaviour and adapt and improve our internet offering accordingly. You can set your web browser so that no cookies can be stored on your terminal and/or so that cookies that have already been stored there are deleted. We would point out that it is possible that you will not have unlimited use of all the functions of our website if the installation of cookies is blocked.
We make every effort to protect your data from unauthorised access, intervention, alteration or transmission. However, we are unable to rule out entirely the possibility that the data will be captured and used by third parties.
Piwik analytics software
Our website uses Piwik. Piwik is an analytics program for the statistical analysis of access to our website. To achieve this, Piwik uses small text files (known as cookies, see above) that are stored on your computer. The information generated by the cookie about your use of our website (including your abbreviated IP address) is passed to our server and stored there for the purpose of usage analysis. The analysis takes place exclusively on our own servers. Your IP address is immediately converted to a pseudonymous form during this process so that you, as the user, remain anonymous to us. The data acquired in this way are not passed on to third parties.
Acquisition, processing and use of data for other purposes
With the exception of the purposes of statistical analysis of user behaviour described above, medac GmbH records, processes and uses only those data about you that you tell us about voluntarily. If we store your personal data, we expressly inform you of this and obtain your consent. It is not possible for us to combine the data recorded and used for statistical analysis of user behaviour and for corresponding improvement of our internet offering with personal data from the contact form or an online application.
In detail, we record personal data that you make available to us voluntarily in the following contexts:
Contact via the contact form
You have the possibility of contacting medac GmbH and posting a request using the contact form provided on our website. We use the data you provide us with on the contact form only to process your request. The data are then deleted.
We record personal data about you in the context of online applications. This information, which you provide us with voluntarily in your application, is used only by the relevant HR officer at medac GmbH and exclusively in the context of the application procedure and for the purpose of processing your application. If your application is unsuccessful, these data are deleted twelve months after completion of the application procedure. The only exception to this is if you have expressly consented to longer storage of your data, if this is necessary for the purpose of serving as evidence or if deletion is precluded by legal provisions. The data required for your application will be collected, processed and used only with your express consent.
Specific types of personal data
Specific types of personal data are defined in § 3, para. 9, BDSG, as data regarding the racial and ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of trade unions, health or sex life. Thus, if you inform us of health-related data, for example, you must expressly consent to the recording, processing and use of these specific types of personal data. These data will then be used only to process your request.
Areas reserved for professional visitors
Professional visitors to our website (doctors, pharmacists and members of certain other health-care professions) may access closed areas of our online offering if they have registered as such in advance. This registration is undertaken via DocCheck. The password you receive on registration will then give you access to the closed areas of our website.
We would expressly point out that DocCheck is a separate service-provider, to which medac GmbH transfers you within the framework of the registration screen on its website. medac GmbH has no influence on the recording, processing and use of your data by DocCheck. Please see DocCheck’s own site for information about the measures taken there to protect your personal data.
Right of information and withdrawal
Insofar as medac GmbH records, processes or uses your personal data with your consent, you may withdraw this consent at any time without giving reasons. You also have the right to receive information at any time and free of charge about the data stored about you and, if appropriate, a right to have these data corrected or deleted.
If you want to withdraw your consent, obtain information about the personal data stored about you or exercise your right to correct or delete these data, as provided for under data protection legislation, please send a postal request to the Legal Department of medac GmbH at the following address: medac GmbH, Legal Department, Theaterstrasse 6, D-22880 Wedel.
We will always respond to your request immediately. However it may be that the data we have stored about you continues to be used until the correction or deletion you have requested has actually taken place.
Personal data about minors of under 14 years of age
medac GmbH does not knowingly record, process or use any personal data pertaining to minors of under 14 years of age unless their legal representatives (e.g. parents) consent to such storage and recording. In such cases, medac GmbH will inform the legal representatives as to what personal data it intends to use and for what purpose. medac GmbH will also inform the legal representatives that they may withdraw their consent at any time and refuse any further recording, processing and use of the data.
Amendment of the Data Protection Declaration
medac GmbH reserves the right to amend or supplement this Data Protection Declaration without prior notice. In no event will this limit your rights deriving from this Data Protection Declaration without your express consent thereto. In the event of amendments or supplements, you will find the latest version of the Data Protection Declaration here. Older versions will, however, continue to be available for your inspection.
